Tesla Model Y Juniper Facelift: Design

The facelift of the Model Y that has now been revealed shows a revised design, which is slightly based on the Cybertruck. Above all, it is easily recognizable by the headlights at the front, which are connected to each other by a thin light strip.

In terms of dimensions, the Model Y grows by 47 mm in length, but also shrinks by 1mm in width compared to the current model, otherwise the changes to the exterior are still limited to a new rear section with a continuous light strip and a new bumper.

Tesla Model Y Juniper Facelift: Drive and Battery

In Germany, the new Model Y will initially be launched with a launch edition. This offers two engines, all-wheel drive and a range of 568 km (WLTP) as well as special design elements for the special edition such as door sills. Unfortunately, we do not have any further information yet. We will probably not find out details, and which variants are available in addition to the launch edition, until January 31, 2025.

At the launch of the new Model Y in China, there were two variants to choose from: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. A performance version is not yet available, but should follow at a later date. Both variants will remain on the previous 400 V platform. The entry-level model offers 299 hp (220 kW) of power and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The 62.5 kWh battery is said to be able to travel up to 593 km according to the Chinese CLTC standard, which corresponds to an increase of 39 km compared to the current model.

The current top model offers a 78.4 kWh battery and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h within 4.3 seconds. The range here is said to be 719 km (according to CLTC), again an increase of a good 31 km compared to the current model. The charging capacities of the variants are 170 and 250 kW respectively. It is not yet known whether these technical details will also be available in the European version of the Tesla Model Y Juniper.

Tesla Model Y Juniper Facelift: Interior and Infotainment

The interior of the Model Y Juniper is based on that of the updated Tesla Model 3. As usual from Tesla, the interior remains strictly minimalist.

New features include a light strip for the ambient lighting, a turn signal lever and an 8-inch touchscreen for the rear seats. Tesla has now also chosen thicker windows for the glazing to improve driving comfort in terms of wind noise.

Also new is an additional front camera and new front seats with seat ventilation.
